Millennium Education Conference 2016
Millennium Education Conference
Friday 8th July 2016
The very first Millennium Education Conference has been an almighty success. Hundreds of parents became delegates for the day and descended on the school for a day of education, all delivered by the children themselves.
Our parents were taught about aerodynamics in order to build their own water rockets as well as creating their own little piece of Italy by participating in the pasta-making workshop. The more athletic delegates competed in Olympic events with Matisse class, while a masterclass in football skills was also on offer. The Nursery delegates were put through their paces with a jungle-themed assault course with maths and phonics challenges to solve along the way. Visitors to Reception participated in a Zumba class and tasted some delicious and nutritious smoothies. If that all sounds like too much for you, there was the opportunity to relax and find your inner Zen with a spot of yoga or experience all things Español in the Spanish café. Those who attended the stop motion animation workshop in Moore class were able to take away the character they made. There was a storytelling extravaganza hosted by O’Keeffe class as well as all the colour and excitement of carnival in Goldsworthy class.
Throughout the day, delegates were entertained by the school Rock Bands and our fantastic public speakers who delivered thoughtful and articulate speeches on a range of current topics. Our fabulous Year 6 children were amazing ambassadors for the day, ensuring all the parents arrived at the right workshop on time. A huge congratulations and thank you to all the children, parents and staff for making the day such an outstanding success!
